Walter, Michelle, and the Panel discuss gun ownership with Joe Porto, owner and instructor of Goldeneye Training Academy. What are the pros and cons and laws applicable in various jurisdictions. Also we discuss in-home gun safety? If you are thinking about buying a gun for home protection, this is a must listen!
When Americans panic, they buy guns — lots of them. During the first six months of 2020, amid a global coronavirus pandemic, gun retailers have reported a record 10.3 million firearm transactions, according to a new survey by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Overall, gun sales in the U.S. have increased by 95 percent while ammunition sales have increased 139 percent compared to the same period last year.
And while various demographic groups are buying guns in 2020, African-Americans account for the highest increase in gun purchases of any group.
“The highest overall firearm sales increase comes from Black men and women, who show a 58.2% increase in purchases during the first six months of 2020 versus the same period last year,” Jim Curcuruto, NSSF director of research and market development, wrote in his report. “Bottom line is that there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of.”
I have never owned a gun. I had the right to buy a gun, but I did not want to have one in the house with my kids. However, as with any position, you evolve with your environment. I do own a weapon now! This show is going to be about gun ownership as an added level of home protection. Here at the TWW, we do not consider owning a weapon political. We look at weapons as a means to protect your family and property against threats. It is another tool to minimize exposure in this very strange time.
In line with our mission to provide you with information that has an impact on the community, this security issue is in line with that.

Remember Their Names: Christine Cruz of Women Artist For Black Lives Matter
Sunday Aug 23, 2020
Sunday Aug 23, 2020
Michelle and Walter speak with an outstanding young lady who puts her efforts where her convictions are. She is the essence of bravery.
About Christine
Christine Cruz, is a (34 year old, single mom Hispanic) native Staten Island artist and photographer. Her work has been featured previously in the Staten Island advance for an (immersive art gallery) installation she curated back in October of 2018 entitled "Project Alice".
In her newest installation titled "Remember Their Names", she strives to engage and unite the community on an issue that has deeply divided many of our closest family, friends, (colleagues) and neighbors. Presented as lawn art for the public to view, the installation offers a personal view of each of the individual lives that have been lost due to racially influenced/charged police brutality (all too prevalent in our society). By providing personal information and details of each life that has been lost, (behind the names that canvas our news feeds time and time again), the installation attempts to put the focus on the life and humanity that has been lost. Instead it is simply a way to touch on and remember the humanity behind each name. Lives so similar to our own loved ones, so full of potential, that might make us reflect on the humanity that has been obscured/forgotten/lost in the emotionally charged political stances taken around the underlying causes of these incidents.
With an island all too often represented artistically and politically by the works of Scott Libdo, she feels it is important to show the community that there is an equal representation and presence from the opposite standings and viewpoints on these critically important issues. This is her contribution to the Black Lives Movement.

Vote!!! Or Get Out The Way: Recorded Live
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
It is about that time that each and every one of us, has to make a make a difference. And what is that sacred duty? It is exercising you right to vote. It doesn’t make a difference what your party affiliation is, just vote! A lot of folks died getting the VRA passed in 1965. Don’t let their deaths go in vain.
There has been quiet a bit of doubt being thrown on absentee ballots or voting by mail. There are also mentions that fraud, the lack of an efficient Post Office would cause a distortion in the outcome and perpetuate fraud in the upcoming general election.
Let me just mention that blacks and Latinix are 7 times more likely to die from Covid-19 than others. So why the push to place this suspicion of fraud on mail in voting. Let"s not forget that casting doubt on mail in in ballots, is a two-way sword. One of the Republican demographics are White’s over 60. I guess that explains why an exception is being pushed for Florida.
